Immigration Court Wait Times- No end in sight

The U.S. Constitution guarantees the criminally accused the right to a speedy trial. The immigration courts have no such requirement. The number of filed cases exceeds the number of closed cases every single year. Wait times and delays are only increasing. This trend is unsustainable. People may disagree on what reform should look like, but we can all agree that hopeful immigrants shouldn’t have to wait 3-10 years in the United States waiting for Their cases to be heard. While waiting for their case to be heard, people join community organizations, make friends, fall in love, and have children... all before they ever see a judge for the first time.
